Document Verification is a functionality that automates the screening of supporting documentation submitted with Form I-9. It employs a wide variety of checks to verify an employee’s work authorization document(s) for advanced I-9 compliance. Document Verification will guide the employees through the uploading process and then validate document-specific criteria.
Administrators can review results by clicking the Onboarding menu at the top of the screen, and then clicking the I-9 Forms menu on the left:
When does it happen in the I-9 process?
The verification takes place during section 1 of the Form I-9 process when the employee selects their Work Authorization documents and uploads them to the system. The scanning of the documents will take place and run through the various checks after the employee has taken or uploaded a photo of their documents. You can visit The Employee Experience for additional details on the employee process.
What does it check for?
Document Verification will run various checks on specific documents used in Section 1 of the Form I-9 for customers in the Growth and Premium tiers. If you are in the Starter tier, you will be able to securely store photos of work authorization documents with Form I-9, but there will be no detection or validation of the captured documents.
